Tributary mainly refers to neighboring nations and overseas regimes send envoys to the Central Plains Dynasty for "tribute" in Traditional society, also the Central Plains Dynasty sent envoys to these Regions. In the Tang Dynasty, Tribute mainly refers to the exchanges between other nations and the Tang Dynasty. However, in the Late Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties, because the Central Plains confusion, this Tributary system took place great changes, showing a complex state. This paper discuss various exchanges about the contacts and trade patterns on the basis from four respects in the Tang and Five Dynasties period.First of all, defined the Tribute-trade in this paper on the basis of our predecessors. At the same time, also summarized and summed up number of research results by the current academic about the tribute-trade.Secondly, discuss the Tribute-trade in the Tang Dynasty. The regimes which contacted with Tang Dynasty are divided into three zones.Then introduce the Tribute-trade one by one. So we can kwon the characteristics of the Tribute-trade in that period: First, the tributary affairs have more specific requirements during the Tang Dynasty; Second ,the transactions between other regimes and the Tang dynasty have been some changes; Third, see the exchanges between China and abroad from the tributes and the grant goods.Thirdly, the complex situation of Tribute-trade in the Five Dynasties is divided into three conditions according to the different main body: First, to the Central Plains dynasty as the center; Second, the South separatism as the main power; Third, is the Khidan as the main body of the situation. Thus summed up some features of the Tribute-trade in the Five Dynasties period.Finally, from the Tribute-trade in the Tang and Five Dynasties period, we kown the Tribute-trade in the Tang and Five Dynasties period renewal of the traditional society, and development over time, display its unique characteristics of the times, prepared for frequent contacts between the other regimes and the Song Dynasty.
