Research On The Mechanism Of The Impacts Of Regional Human Capital Structure On Economic Growth

The theory on human capital was first brought up by Schurz in 1960. It has gradually become an important component and research focus in Economics. Founded on relevant studies of scholars from home and abroad, the thesis analyzed the mechanisms of human capital structure on economic growth and at the same time, it tested the rationality of the existence of such mechanisms using quantitative methods.The whole thesis is consisted of four chapters. The first part is the preface, which sets forth the significance of the topic from both theoretical and practical perspectives. It also overviews the relevant theories and researches on (1) human capital, (2) the relationships between human capital and economic growth, and (3) the relationships between the structure of human capital structure and economic growth.The second part mainly researches the mechanisms of human capital structure on economic growth. And by doing so, it discusses the inner logics of human capital structure's influences on economic growth through human capital stocks, industry structure, total factor productivity, regional economic differences and structural unemployment respectively. This section is the core part of the thesis.The third part of the thesis is empirical analysis. Firstly it measures and calculates the efficiency of productivity of human capital structure, among which data variables and needed model are introduced, and DEA method is adopted to calculate the efficiency of productivity of human capital structure. Then it measures and calculates the impacts of human capital structure (represented by efficiency of productivity of human capital structure) on economic growth. Finally through quantitative analysis on the relationships between the levels of education and economic growth in four provinces (Tianjin, Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Shandong), it points out the general direction of future development and adjustment of human capital structure in different provinces.The fourth part is the final conclusion and suggestions. According to the conclusions of the mechanisms of human capital structure on economic growth and relevant empirical analysis, the thesis developed corresponding policy suggestions combining the actual situation of China.
