The product strategy is the best basic strategy of the 4P strategy.It is directly related to the success and fail of the company.But a company often makes a lot of mistakes when the managers draft the product portfolio strategy,and the mistakes seriously affect the development of the company.A hotel is a company.Although the products of a hotel is different from other companies,the managers of the hotel need to apply product strategy to optimize the product portfolio.Mountain hot spring hotel is a kind of leisure place which is located in the tourist sites that the mayor sights are the mountain or hilly areas,looks hot spring as the carrier,operates around a certain theme culture of the human health, providing accommodation,food and beverage,entertainment and other facilities and services.It is a special type of hot spring hotels.In the paper, from the empirical research of customers,the author try to construct an appraising indicator system of the importance of mountain hot spring hotel products,to find some ideas and countermeasures for the product portfolio of mountain hot spring hotels.First of all,the paper reviews the current literature on the hot spring hotel,the hot spring tour and the product portfolio.On the basis of literature,hypothesis and reasonable questionnaires are brought forward. Then,based on data from the questionnaire survey and data analysis, including descriptive statistics,factoranalysis,ANOVA and Regression, the paper test research hypothesis and construct the research model and comes to five main conclusion as follows:Firstly,the customers of mountain hot spring hotels are mainly young guests with higher education background and occupation major in teacher,officer,businessman and special technology worker.Secondly, the appraising indicator system of the importance of mountain hot spring hotel products which is composed 7 dimensions namely the environment in mountain hot spring hotel,the hotel service,the hot spring resource and high standard SPA treatment,suitable diets,comfortable accommodations,ancillary facilities,conference facilities and culture. Thirdly,the demographic attributes and consuming experiences of customers affects the appraisal of the importance of hotel products. Fourthly,form the perspective of customers,the rank of importance of seven dimensions are the environment in mountain hot spring hotel,the hotel service,the hot spring resource and high standard SPA treatment, comfortable accommodations,ancillary facilities,conference facilities and culture,suitable diets.Finally,the paper proposes the operation countermeasures about product portfolio in the mountain hot spring hotel from the above conclusions.
