A Study On The Measure Of Workflow Of Lean Construction

Lean Construction introduced the lean productivity thinking and principles which are used in manufacture industry successfully into construction industry. The process of product delivery is considered as a continual workflow in Lean Construction theory and practice. And it has been introduced into project research as the new perspective, theory and management approach. Since Lean Construction has been presented, how to improve work flow reliability and construct continual flow became a hot point.This paper made a systematic introduction of Lean Construction basic theory and analyzed the foundation of theory, method and principles deeply. According to Lean Construction theory, it analyzed variability, waste and unreliability which were the core issues of workflow, and also the relation of them by theoretical verification and empirical study. Then, by analyzing the impacts of workflow on project from translation and flow perspective, an influence factor model which is good for understanding the root cause of the workflow interruption was proposed. And finally according to workflow measurement principle, author proposed a workflow measurement sheet which concluded the continual workflow rate, the workflow reliability rate and the workflow influence factor statistics model. In practical research, this paper took Southern Link Landscape Project as empirical study object, introduced the implementation process and outline of the workflow measurement, and tested the efficiency of workflow measurement in practice by data analysis.According to lean construction theory and thinking, this paper analyzed the core issues and influence factors of workflow. And in the view of improving workflow continually, the measure model of workflow is proposed in order to enhance project performance by improving workflow reliability and constructing a continual flow. By these measurement models the running condition of workflow can be analyzed quantitatively, and the root causes of interruptive workflow also can be found by qualitative analysis. Thus, it is a good method for workflow control and management, which can improve the project management.
