Sovereign Wealth Funds(SWF) sit at the intersection of high finance and high politics. As one of the new investment tools owned by the developing countries, the rapid growth of the Sovereign Wealth Funds has aroused the Western's concern: such large scale of investment contains not only economic but also political purpose of SWF's motherland; the money which SWF pours into the western market would cause financial inbalance and rewrite the current international political and economic order. By using the political economy theories, this paper mainly dicusses the cause of the SWF's emergence, the political and economic influence which SWF brings to the world and the Sovereign Wealth Fund threat theory which is upheld by most western politicians and scholars.Chapter One explains the purpose and significance of the study, summarizes related literatures.Chapter Two offers an overall glance on the SWF, including the definition, the history, the scale and the distribution of the SWF.Chapter Three explains the cause of the SWF's emergence.
