Land use/cover change is the most outstanding landscape sign in the top layer system of the earth,and regional study on it has become the hot spot of the geography research. The rapid economic development of Shanghai made land use/cover change obviously,and in the future, land use/cover change is going to change significantly in Shanghai.In this article, dealing with two TM images of Shanghai for 1987 and 2007, the author uses support vector machine(SVM) method and the traditional maximum likelihood method(MLC) in order to study how to improve the classification accuracy of RS interpretation .Eventually the thematic maps of land use of 1987 and 2007 are made by RS and GIS. As the result of basic research,the author has made dynamic analysis on the land use/cover changes from 1987 to 2007. Based on the social economic statistic data of Shanghai,the primary factor analysis of SPSS16.0 was applied to analyze the driving factor to land use/cover change and the conclusions included economic factor, population factor, urban development environmental factor and technical factor. The thesis is divided into six parts:The first part is the introduction. The status,progress for land use/cover research at home and abroad are discussed, the significance of LUCC in Shanghai is clarified,and the regional overview of Shanghai is introduced.The second part is the pre-processing of TM images. The author introduces the necessary materials and its sources,and focuses on the essential process before the classification of the TM images.The third part is the information extraction of the TM images. The support vector machine classification is compared with maximum likelihood classification in detail.Finally, the information of land use of 1987 and 2007 is obtained with the support vector machine method.The fourth part is dynamic analysis of land use/cover change from 1987 to 2007,based on interpreted TM images.The author studies the characteristic of the land use/cover changes from three aspects,quantity variation, degree variation, and spatial variation.The fifth part is the human driving mechanism of land use/cover change of Shanghai,from the human point of view, with the principal component analysis method,has studied the driving mechanism of land use/cover change of Shanghai quantitatively.The sixth part is the conclusion. Elaborates the main conclusions and outlook, analyzes the inadequacies.
