The Research Of Efficiency In Postal Savings Bank Of China By Data Envelopment Analysis

As a newly established commercial bank, Postal Savings Bank of China(PSBC) gets ahead gropingly in many aspects, especially having a big gap comparing with other commercial banks. In order to clarify the issue and improve the direction, PSBC need to compare with other commercial banks in efficiency. It's very important to research this issue for the development of PSBC, especially in the so furious competition of banks nowadays.Many scholars at home and abroad make many empirical studies to the efficiency of commercial banks using a variety of Quantitative Analysis. However, most empirical studies are at the macro-level and a certain area or a commercial bank is seldom researched by empirical studies from the micro-level, so it's very difficult to find the root reason of efficiency. In order to solve this problem, the paper studies the issue that the validity of municipal PSBC evaluation using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) method taking X City PSBC as representation.Firstly, the paper analysis's the current status of PSBC using SWOT method, and makes some development strategies from the strategic level. Secondly, the paper researches the relative effectiveness of efficiency between PSBC and other banks using DEA, finds that the whole of PSBC is effective, and the super-efficiency value of which is third in the all local commercial banks. Then, the paper researches the relative effectiveness of efficiency for the 10 branches of the X City PSBC considering the regional differences in external conditions, and takes a conclusion that staff redundancy and expense waste are the main factors constraining PSBC's development, while different external environments have a great impact on its efficiency.
