A Reflection On The Maxism Theory Of Economic Crisis

The Maxism theory of economic crisis (to be referred to as "the theory" hereafter) has been widely considered since the current finance crisis and economic crisis spreading all over the world. With the background of the era, I'd like to re-study the theory and probe into both practical and theoretical values of the theory at present time. Actually the theory has been doubted and challenged at the contemporary era; and whether it is still scientific and up-to-date is pending to be answered. I'd like to focus on the challenges and find an answer to the question and furthermore, to discuss how to make new progress to enrich and develop the theory.The theory had systematically described and analyzed the capitalist economic crisis and demonstrated the essential, foundation and developing tendency of the capitalist economic crisis. Therefore, a re-study of the theory is necessary and benefitial to analyze the current world economic crisis thoroughly, to discover its inherent essential, to be inspired to cope with the crisis, and also to enrich and develop the theory itself.This thesis has assessed the current world economic situation; discussed the external and inherent causes of the crisis; explored the enlightenment of the theory to the present age; and finally attempted to eludicate how to enrich and develop"the theory.Through this thesis I conclude my research as following:Firstly, the Maxism theory of economic crisis is an integrated, systematic and full-blown theory which deeply demonstrates the developing tendency of capitalism; secondly, the theory is the core of the Maxism economic theory system. It discovered the objective rule of the social which is never transferred by any personal volition while the western economic crisis theories are internally biased for their attempts and purposes to eliminate the crises and save the capitalism. The third point is, though many new features appeared during the present economic crisis compared to the traditional economic crisis, it was still the same crisis of overproduction caused by the capitalist basic contradiction intensifying; and it's also a modern crisis accompanied by the currency and finance crisis. It's necessary for China to implement a serie of long-term programming measures to cope with the impact of the crisis. By bringing the new features of the present crisis into research, our understanding of the Maxism theory of economic crisis will break through the limit of its initial age and keep up with the new epoch.
