Based on the experiments on cylindrical flat nosed copper projectiles impacting Comp B with various thickness steel cover plates, the process of explosion caused by cylindrical flat and round nosed tungsten projectiles impacting the Comp B with various thickness steel cover plates was simulated. The quantitative analysis between the change of critical velocity and that of the thickness of the steel cover plate is discussed. The results satisfy the Jacobs Criterion to a larger extent. Further more, we draw the relationship between velocities of flat and round nosed tungsten projectiles, i.e. Vround≈1.15Vflat. At last, the reason of the XDT events is analysed. At last, with the respect to the rectangle flat nosed projectile, the relationship between the critical velocities and the density or rigidity of the projectile was discussed. The safety height of the explosive was computed basically.
