Satellite synthetic aperture radar interferometry (InSAR) as a promising remote sensing technique, has been developed rapidly in recent years,which has advantages of wide coverage,high resolution,all-weather,all-time,etc.It's a new technology of surface deformation.However,in practical application,spatio-temporal decorrelation,noise and errors,atmospheric phase and atmospheric delay,etc,have reduced its accuracy for deformation information acquisition.PS-InSAR(Persistent S(?)atterers for SAR Interferometry) technique has the advantage to overcome the limited factors.The persistent scatterers(PS),which can keep phase stable in the temporal series,can be used to get surface subsidence by analyzing the time-series differerntial phase variation.Economic development and population growth has led to an increase in groundwater withdrawals. Overdrafting groundwater causes of the subsidence, which has become the main urban geological hazard all over the world. The development of Permanent Scatterers Synthetic Aperture Radar interferometry provides the ability to measure and monitor surface displacements with millimeter precision over extensive areas with great spatial detail.During the past several decades, Las Vegas, Nevada, has experienced significant land subsidence due to compaction of the aquifer system.In this paper,we have collected 24 Envisat ASAR SLCs covering form Oct 2002 to Sept 2009 for Las vegas area,and by using the StamPS software for PS-InSAR to these ASAR images.As the PS are discrete and irregularly distributed,Kriging interpolation and deformation contours are applied to get continuous deformation senses.In this area,the average of the subsidence is 6.3mm/a.The results are basically in accordance with that from the leveling. At last,combined with the mining of ground water and economic station of this area,the cause of deformation is analyzed,at the same time, analyzed the reason of seasonal subsidence and evolution trends of the subsidence.In order to mining the groundwater resources in this region and provides a scientific basis for controling land subsidence.
