TEM is the abbreviation of Transient electromagnetic methods or Time domain electromagnetic methods. TEM is a kind of electromagnetic detection method, and it has some advantages such as larger detecting depth, better application effect, and extensive application field and so on. So it has a wide applied prospect. As the extensive application of TEM, transient electromagnetic instruments and control software have been making continuous development.LTEM-1-type transient electromagnetic instrument is a new generation of digital instrument that was developed by ourselves, and control software adopts LabVIEW language, this thesis concerns the result of research and development of control software which the author participated in. For the present most of the transient electromagnetic instruments adopt programming languages like C, C++, VB, MatLAB, etc, which are much more difficult to learn, and the order by statement is easy to go wrong, and it is not easy to modify after the completion and error. Although MatLAB is powerful but takes up too much memory and is too demanding on the hardware device. Compared to them, LabVIEW language has many great advantages and can overcome their shortcomings. For example, LabVIEW language is easy to learn and grasp, its diagram-style programming is direct and efficient, the program is easy to modify, it has good compatibility with other languages, convenient observation in the waveform display, fast running speed and taking up less memory. So far there is no access to the data of transient electromagnetic instrument developed by LabVIEW language.The thesis introduced transient electromagnetic instruments and control softwares(status quo of domestic and international development), TEM(principle, apparatus, characteristics and application), LTEM-1-type transient electromagnetic instrument(components, parameter and characteristics), LabVIEW(origin, development history and advantages), and LabVIEW language was used for research as the control software of LTEM-1-type transient electromagnetic instrument to solve a series of questions such as:elimination of instrument background value, the splicing and filtering of second potential curve, calculation and display of current intensity and turn-off time, the extraction of measured data and the mapping of measuring line profile curve chart and etc. With LTEM-1 type transient electromagnetic instrument for physical simulation experiments on the sphere, tabular body and tubular body, physical simulation experiment results was compared with the textbook in order to verify the validity and reliability of control software. Finally, through practically applying LTEM-1-type transient electromagnetic instrument to seek underground water pipes, thus further verified the practicability of the control software.
