Near-shore and offshore structures and foundations are subjected to the frequent actions of dynamic loads induced by ocean wave. Therefore evaluation of dynamic response of seabed under wave loading is of major importance and is discussed in this thesis. The deformation of soil is not so substantial when the wave is small and then the seabed can be simply taken as linear elastic porous media. Based on this assumption, the Biot's consolidation theory is employed for evaluating effective stresses, pore-water pressure and deformations of seabed soils. According to the general mathematical equations of the boundary-value problem of seabed, the finite element numerical formulations are established. Thereafter, numerical computations are conducted for different seabed profiles including uniform seabed and layered nonhomogeneous seabed. The effective stresses, pore-water pressure and displacements of seabed under wave loading can be given. The effects of nonhomogeneity of soil properties on the dynamic responses of seabed are discussed.
