In this paper, the choice of artificial boundary conditions in computational fluid dynamics and theoritical justifications are analyzed. The main purpose of the paper is to compare the effect of different open boundary condi-tions(OBCs) upon simulation results. A new boundary condition(Orlanski-type OBCs) is introduced in the computation of spectral element method and is applied in the numerical simulation of the flow past a cylinder. Numerical results show that Orlanski-type OBCs gives more accurate results as compared to the classical Dirichlet-type OBCs and Neumann-type OBCs. |
