The paper researches on a kind of long afterglow luminous material, which can absorb and store the energy of sun or other sources in the daytime. When it is placed in the dark, it will release the energy stored and act as lamp-house. It needs no power and its luminance is high as well, so it has been used widely in our ordinary life. Recently, more and more work has been done to find out its luminous mechanism and its afterglow property.On the basis of colorimetry, making use of hardware interface technology and photoelectricity convert technology, the paper introduces the whole consideration of the system. The instrument can automatically collect photocurrent of the detector .After correcting the current to luminance, we got the after-glow curve of the material.The first part of this paper describes the basic theory of colorimetry and two methods to measure color are compared. And then two key sectors-the photoelectronic detectors, especially the photo-multiplier tubes, together with the weak signal detection are discussed in detail.Secondly, the whole construction of the system is ascertained. The optical subsystem and the photo-electron conversion subsystem are designed as well. The hardware of circuit and software design in the measurement are represented respectively. And all the measures to take in consideration of the detection of weak signal and reliability of system are discussed.The result of the experiment is presented in the last. The precision and error are ultimately been analyzed.
