The paper researches on controlling chaos from the aspects of theory, method and circuit experiment.Considering practical application, some control methods brought forward by predecessors have been improved in order to realize them more easily. Because it is difficult to control chaos and hyperchaos to high-period by simple linear feedback in experiments, the ordinary linear feedback method is modified to local control, further more, we prove its feasibility and find out the controllable parameter range theoretically. The improved linear feedback method is applied to circuit experiments, and the results of numerical simulation and circuit experiment are all in accordance with theory, which validate this method effective. Using feedback with prediction to control chaos, we also catch hold of the result of high-period, which has never been reached. The double feedback method is introduced to control the chaos and hyperchaos in a 2-dimensions discrete system and the spatio-temporal open-flow models based on the method of the delayed feedback and the predict method. The condition under which chaos can be stabilized could be educed by theoretical analysis. We testify the method practicable in both theory and numerical simulation. The results of theory and numerical simulation all indicate that the double feedback method can enlarge the controllable parameter range and improve the quality of control. The double feedback method is propitious to apply in practice.With a view to practice, the method of controlling chaos, hyperchaos and spatio-temporal chaos through comparing amplitude and disturbing variable is proposed. The results illuminate that it is applicable to both low-dimension system and spatio-temporal system. This simple method is easy to realize, so it is valuable in application of engineering.
