Extracting natural products from plants is one of most impotant way to get new drugs. It is necessary to extracting, separating and identifying chemical constituents from plants for using they in many region. The thesis described the study on the chemical constituents and their bioactivity of two kinds of plants, Davidia involucrata Baill and Ligustrum sinense.Davidia involucrata Baill is a kind of Chinese protected special plant, and Ligustrum sinens gorwthing in Fujian China is used in Chinese traditional medicine, but there are not many published paper reaching in their chemical constituents.Many kinds of chromatograph including Silica gel, D101 Resin, Sephadex L-20 gel, Rp-8 and HPLC are used in extracting and separating chemical constituents form these plants. Certainly, they need to select the best eluate by TLC. Some technique including MS (EI-MS, FAB-MS), ID and 2D NMR (COSY, ROESY, HMBC, HMQC) been used in identifying these chemical structures. And these compounds were characterized by IR and UV.Twenty-eight compounds were isolated from the methanol extracts of Davidia involucrata Baill for the first time. On the basis of spectral analysis, these compounds were identified as Kaempferol , Kaempferol-3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside , Kaempferol-3-O-β-D-galactopyranoside, Quercetin , Quercetin-3-O-β-D-arabinopyranoside, Quercetin-3-O-β-D-galactopyranoside, gallic acid, methyl gallate-4-O-β-D- galactopyranoside, caffeicacid, methyl caffeate, 4-cafeoyl-(3'a, 4'a, 5'β )- trihydroxyquinic acid, 3'-cafeoyl-(3'a, 4'P, 5'P )-trihydroxyquinic acid methyl ester, 5'-cafeoyl-galactonic acid , pumiloside, loganic acid , 5R,6S,7E-megastima-3-on-7-en-9-ol 9-O-β-D-glucopyranoside. 2a, 3β-dihydroxy-oleanoic acid , 2a, 3β, 23-trihydroxy-oleanoic acid, 3a, 6a-dihydroxy-oleanoic acid, 3β-hydroxy-ursoic acid, 2a, 3a, 23-trihydroxy-ursoic acid , 2a, 3β, 23-trihydroxy-ursoic acid, 2β, 3β, 19a -trihydroxy-ursoic acid, 2a , 3β, 19a -trihydroxy-ursoic acid-28-O-β-D-glucopyranoside , 2a. 3a, 19a-trihydroxy-ursoic acid-28-O-β-D-glucopyranoside, 2a, 3a, 19a, 23-tetrahydroxy-ursoic acid, 1a, 3a, 19a, 23-tetrahydroxy-ursoic acid-28-O-β-D-glucopyranoside , 3a, 19a, 23-trihydroxy-ursoic acid.Twelve compounds were isolated from the methanol extracts of Ligustrum sinens for the first time. On the basis of spectral analysis, these compounds were identified as 8'-a-hydroxyl-lariciresinol-4'-O-β-D-glucopyranoside, liriodendrin, kaempferol-3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside, 7-O-a-L-rhamnopyransyl-kaempferol-3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside, 7-O-a-L-rhamnopyranosyl-kaempferol-3-O-a-L- rhamnopyranoside, 10-hydroxyoleuropein, specneuzhenide, 3,4-di-hydeoxylphenethyl alcohol, 3,4-dihydroxyl-phenethyl-O-β-D-glucopyranoside, 3-methoxyl-phenethyl alcohol-4-O -β-D-glucopyranoside, p-hydroxyl-phenethyl alcohol, p-hydroxyl-phenethyl-O-β-D-glucopyranoside .The antioxidant activity of some of compounds of extracted from Ligustrum sinens is analyzed. Results show that some compounds have antioxidant activity, and two compounds have strong antioxidant activity.The structures of chemical constituents of Ligustrum and the 13C-NMR data were reviewed on the last chapter of this thesis.
