In this paper, according to the basic theory of optical information disposal and the theory of wavelet transform, the advantage and the shortcoming of the joint transform correlator and thetraditional 4-f optical correlator were compared, further more, by combining the prominentcontribution of wavelet transform to information disposal and adopting the optical structure of joint transform correlator, the wavelet joint transform correlator which based on Mexican-hat wavelet and the adaptive Gaussian wavelet was put forward. The simulation of the JTC showed that, the wavelet joint transform correlator that based on Mexican-hat wavelet had more precision in pattern recognition and was more credible, further more, the wavelet joint transform correlator that based on adaptive Gaussian wavelet had the ability for scale-invariant pattern recognition if the size of the target pattern just change in a relative little range. Based on some problems fell aross in the simulation and in some confirming Fourier transform experiment, this paper also put forward some advice for the future experiments of the correlator.
