With rapid advance of the science and technology, lots of new methods have been applied to geological survey. By means of digital video technique and multimedia technique, the digital panoramic borehole camera system develops quickly. The digital technique is key role in the system, which used to capturing images,transform,storing,display and application, those images are vivid and precise.This image system belongs to the digital panoramic borehole camera system. The function of this image system utilizes camera to obtain image of geological borehole. After capture, transform, process and other operation, most of the geological phenomena can be transformed to an oblong picture clearly and intuitively.Five parts makes of the main content of this dissertation: the first part expatiates overall on structure of the borehole image system,and describes the hardware and software of the system simply. The second part studies the principle of image capturing card and ways of image capturing method. It also described how to convert the dynamic video signal to immobile image. It' s foundation for the whole system. The third part describes the knowledge of digital image processing particularly, and it brings some special method of image processing in practical project to get final result. The fourth part makes a study of how to build the processed image to three-dimensional picture. By link to the OpenGL API, the plane image can simulate solid borehole status, and it gets intuitionist effect.
