The history of learning modern science in Chinese schools has more than one hundred years. Science has been a word that almost every people know it. However, we can't be satisfied with science education, our science literacy still very bad. Down back to the history, we find a serious problem that though people took great granted in science, the science spirit which is the soul of the modern science was in the state of losing, the prosperity was some false appearance. The study about why we lost science spirit during the science education is the key to understand and solve the problems in present science education. The author elaborated from four aspects:Section one, Concept of originality and the means and value of research.Section two, Stating the shows of lack of the science spirit in the neoteric science education, which are unilateral science education conception , utilitarian science education aims and the lack of science method.Section three, Main causes of the lace of the science spirit in the neoteric science education. The article discuses it from school education, society conception with science and the tradition of science study, these causes are respective direct cause, indirect cause and potential cause.Section four, the inspiration to modern science education. We should emphasis the role of science spirit, create favorable condition to improve the development of science spirit healthy. To our theorists, we should strengthen the study of science education and science spirit.
