Geology works is closely bound up to development of our country; it has irreplaceable fundamental position and support function in country's development strategy. The construction of geo-data digitalization is much more important in the national economic construction and the social development. How to store, process and manage digital geological data, how to make geologic map data more convenient and more effective in map making and cartographic analysis, how to make digital geologic map able to valid offering spatial analysis and auxiliary geology making policy and analysis are urgent issues to be solved for the National Spatial Information Infrastructure (NSII) construction. To solve these problems building up a good digital geologic map data model is the first step. The two kind of GIS software MAPGIS and ArcGIS are selected as the data processing platform system for geological survey of our country. In the ways of their data organization adopted there are geo-relational data model. This data organization schema has a lot of faults for a huge amount data management and can not meet with GIS development and application requirements. In the geology field, seeking a good data model for geo-data management become a hot issue to study for GIS experts and geologists. Object-oriented digital geologic map data just cater to this demand. On the basis of further investigating GIS data model and analyzing content that the digital geologic map includes, applying GIS theory to geological field and combining domestic and international digital research results of geologic map, absorbing object-oriented thought and method, the author utilizes unified modeling language (UML) to finish the building of an object-oriented digital geologic map data model. A geological map of scale 1:50000 I48E0109011 (Wen County one) as a case study has been used to test the Oriented-object geological data model and made the organization of giving a demonstration. The test shows this model makes geological materials organization of data more rational and makes the geological database able to serve the geological application better. Meanwhile, the research of the model expects to be able to make some helpful basic research work for the information construction of territory resource management as well.
