Kuqa depression, an important petroleum exploration area in Tarim basin, is themain resource base for the West to East pipeline project,proved to be excitingpromising area. This paper has established high-resolution sequence stratigraphicframework of Kumugeliemu Formation through the integrated study of outcrop,seismic and well logging data,analyzed the depositional systems and facies in thesequence framework and summarized their developing model. Under the analysis ofsource rocks and regional seals, this paper mainly discussed and predicated thefavorable sandstone distribution. The research achieved the following progress: The Kumugeliemu Formation can be divided into 3 third- order sequences. Theboundary can be correlated and traced in Kuqa depression. It can be recognized 6fifth-order sequences and more than ten sixth-order sequence in sandstone strata ofbottom of Kumugeliemu Formation,and establish reservoir-scale,high- resolutionsequence stratigraphic framework and depositional systems. This provides importantguidance for contrast of sandstone and analyse of depositional facies. The depositional facies of Kumugeliemu Formation has been identified andclassified within isochronal sequence stratigraphic framework. The main depositionalfacies are as follows:Alluvial fan,Fan delta,Braided Delta,incised-valley fill,coastal shallow lake,semi-deep lake,arid salt lake,and so on. It mainly analyzes thedepositional facies of Quele and Yangta areas and recognizes 6 depositional facies:Braided Delta front sand bar,submarine distributary bay,interdistributary area,margin bar,coastal shallow lake sand deposits or lakeshore matting sand deposits,andfluvial delta front sand bar. The main depositional facies of Quele area is BraidedDelta,and that of Yangta area is fluvial delta. Base on analysing thickness of sandstone and sendimentary environment,illustrate the distributed character of depositional facies and thickness of sandstone.This studying reveal that there are 3 depositional facies belts:the sandstone belts ofAlluvial fan,Braided river and Braided delta of foreland slope to northward, sandydeposits of coastal shallow lake and fluvial delta to southeast, sandstone belts of Fandelta of the edge of Wensu heave to westward. According to distribution of sandstone and types of reservoirs, predicatefavorable exploration belts. The studying shows there are three favorable reservoirbelts: Braided Delta front deposits of slope to northward, Braided river and Fan deltadeposits around Wensu heave and Quele district,and fluvial delta sandy deposits tosoutheast.
