With the development of photo-electronic recording device and the enhancement of computer capacity, one of the importance improvement of holography is digital holography. In digital holography, hologram is recorded by CCD array that saves the trouble of photographic processing and exposure time can be shortened greatly; In addition, phase distribution that cannot be observed in optical reconstruction is easily derived quantitatively by numerical reconstruction with computer. In this paper, the basic theory, character of digital holography and it's application in three-dimensional shape mesurement are described. The main contents include: (1). The theory of recording and reconstruction of digital holography is analysised theoretically, the different algorithms of numerical reconstruction and methods of elimination zero-orded light and conjugate light are described. (2).The effect of reconstruction light on reconstructed image is studied, th distribution of reconstructed wave is presented, and computer simulation is carried.(3). Based on the information theory, the information capacity of digital holography system is analysised, the information content of digital holography using different configuration is analysised. Based on the theory of linear system, the impulse response is analysised theorically. (4). Contrast to the optical holography interference contouring, the model of contouring by digital holography is described, the resolution of diffirent contouring method by digital holography is presented.
