The research and application of laser beams is an important aspect in the development of high-tech in nowadays. Many kinds of laser beams propagation and transformation, which are relatively popular subject, especially for the propagation of laser beams in uniaxially anisotropic crystals.Based on this situation, this paper firstly summarizes the concepts of crystals and beams and classifies them .Then it has a brief discussion on beam propagation and makes a summary of research significance and actualities in domestic and overseas. In chapter two, the author generalizes and compares the popular research methods and has introduced the main method of beams propagation in uniaxially anisotropic crystals and discusses the paraxially vectorial angular-spectrum theories and the properties of ordinary and extraordinary beams, which proposed by A. Ciattoni, etc. Then in chapter three and four, the author deduces the propagation formulas of Hermite-Cosh-Gaussian beams by some complicated mathematics techniques, which are a kind of extensively representative beams .Then, as an application example, the transverse components of the electric field arising from an input 1, 0 Hermite-Cosh-Gaussian mode are computed on the conditions of given initial parameters by means ofMatlab language. The results indicate that the slowly varying amplitudes of ordinary and extraordinary beams polarized along x and y axis respectively are related to the parameters and diffraction distance. At last, Based on the propagation expressions of Hermite-Cosh-Gaussian in uniaxially anisotropic crystals, the author has obtained the propagation expressions of Cos-Gaussian and m=l, n=l Hermite-Gaussian beams in uniaxially anisotropic crystals and has analyzed the propagation properties of x and y components respectively. The last part of this paper has summaried the conclusions and has a prospect of the future.
