Because of the peculiar mode of WGM, the optical microsphere cavity has very high intrisic quality factor and very low mode volume. Optical microsphere cavity is a new optical resonator and people look good at its future, and it has been used primarily in optical communications, new type of lasers and optical sensors. At present, most of studies about microsphere cavity stay in the period of experimenttations, and have not the mature theory. Analyzing and researching the field of the microsphere cavity is very useful to the further popularization and applications.The task of this paper is mainly analyzing and solving the distribution and charac- ters of the optical field in microsphere cavity, and based on this, we take the primary study in the coupling conditions between microsphere and tapered-fiber. We intend to provide a logical reference in theory. The content of this paper includes three aspects:1. According to the theory of classical electromagnetism, we begin with the Poisson equation and take up the method of separating variable in order to set up and solve the equation of the optical field in the microsphere cavity. Next, we analyze the characteris- tic of optical field and set up the eigenvalue's equation based on the boundary condition.2. Different method is used in solving the eigenvalue's equation. Numerical method is accurate, but it is complicated and difficult to analysis. In this paper, we deal with the Bessel Function approximatively and get to an approximative solving formula. Though its error is a little larger(about 0.3%-0.4%), it can reflect the relation between the eigenfrequency and refractive index and radius of the microsphere. According to the character of microspher and tabered fiber coupling system,We get to a approximate eigenvalue's equation and Search Solutions to eigenvalue's equation with Constructing Pictures. In this way, we can get the result more conveniently and the result is more accurate.3. Coupling optical wave into microsphere cavity is the premises to the application of microshere.
