A telemetric recording of the electroencephalogram (EEG) in freely moving animals is currently an important issue in neurosciences, because this recording systems offer the advantage to monitor neurophysiological information and behavior under various experimental conditions. In this paper, we present an inexpensive, portable and reusable telemetric system to record EEG from adult freely moving rats. The amplifier instrument of the wireless, so~called telemetric EEG recording system consist of the amplifier AD620 for preamplifier and precision amplifier LM324 for filtering, amplifying and voltage adjustment. Another part is a chip nRF24E1which is 2.4GHz transceiver with embedded 8051 core and 8 input ADC to transmit the signal, two of the parts consist of a collection device with low weight(10g including battery) and small size(21mm×50mm). The EEG signal is transmitted at a distance of up to 10 meters, thus neuroelectrical activity and behavior can be synchronously recorded. In order to verify the performance of the telemetry system, we record the EEG from normal rats and comparing with the conventional recording devices (the cable system). With correlation analysis of data showed that the correlation of the two up to 0.93. When we input the standard signal, the correlation of the two is up to 0.96. Therefore, the paper designs rats EEG telemetry system can take on tasks related to the experiment, can provide a new platform for behavioral and neurophysiological experiments.
