Automatic generalize contour is an important part of the map study, but also have comprehensive difficult problems. In this paper a single curve generalization method was discussed for the existing major generalization method.As for the existing general generalization method, the algorithm of Douglas-Peucker is realized by two stacks, improve the efficiency of the algorithm. Proposed based on wavelet transform contour automatically generalized approach, including Daubechies wavelet transform and B-spline wavelet transform. Generalized contour of the contour maps to the edge to edge method was proposed. On the above algorithm for the general algorithm can be called cross-platform, and in AutoCAD has been developed under the second automatic generalize contour presentation systems.Finally, based on the characteristics of the algorithm and the results of demonstrate, the paper discuss the application scope and existing problems of the algorithm, and proposed the concept and prospects of automatic generalize contour in future.
