Reservoir-induced earthquake is a special earthquake in the world,it was caused by impounding reservoir.It will bring some serious influence after the earthquake.Under some circumstances,the earth quanke would threaten the safety of people.With the increase of the construction of huge hydropower station,more and more people have attached much importance on seismicities in reservoir. There are many reasons of reservoir-induced earthquake,most of them have finally associated with rock mass cranny and osmotic pressure.This paper has pointed the mechanism of reservoir-induced earthquake in different angles.The following researches are finished in this content:(1)The paper has dissertated the characteristic,the mechanism and the progress of seismicities in reservoir.(2) The water pressure can be divided into osmotic pressure and reservoir pressure,two models were offered to calculate the former.The earthquake has some relation with time also can be explained by the two models.(3)According to different characteristic of reservoir circulation,we analyze the mechanism in two states.One is reservoir filling,another is reservoir drainage.Based on the elastic theory ,we should distinguish different stress environment, Based on these different states,we analyze the effect of lateral pressure coefficient~λ,Posisson's ratio,obliquity of cranny on the reservoir-induced earthquake.(4) The anthor analyze different parts by infinit element analysis .The pats include the ubiety of reservoir and faults,reservoir and cranny,different river valleys.
