Tianchi volcano in the Changbaishan area is a volcano with the potential dangers of eruption in the years to come. The eruption of the Millennium (1199-1200 AD) spewed volcanic ash spreading to the Sea of Japan and Northern Japan and caused serious natural disasters. As the indicators of volcanic eruption, pumices keep a lot of information of magma emitted out of the vent before they were quenched, including the size and distribution of bubbles. Pumices are what I mainly discuss in the paper. On the basis of sampling from the field investigation, with the help of modern optical microscope and the scanning electron microscope (SEM), the morphology and the size of pores in the white pumices as well as yellow ones and black ones were researched. Then the mechanism of bubble formation was discussed. The research of pumices at home and abroad was consulted. On the basis of their researches, some of the relevant parameters of the volcanic eruption were calculated further and some meaningful results were given.
