The problems that deal with the transmission characteristics of photonic crystals are investigated. The following two parts are involved in this thesis:The first part: the energy distribution of light-wave passing through the photonic crystal waveguide(PCW) into the non-dissipation symmetrical medium is investigated. It is found that although the same lamp-house, the energy flowed the interface of PCW and the symmetrical medium are different, it is increasing as the growing of the refractive index of the symmetrical medium. In addition, we also found the larger the refractive index, the more collective of the energy in the interface, and the energy of the light-wave coming into the symmetrical medium is more collective too and reaching a far position. The second part: we investigate the transmission property of metallic photonic crystals. Transmission spectrum is calculated for the special metallic photonic crystals in the case of the thickness of metal layer larger than the skin depth. We find that there exist several transmitted peaks with quite high transmissivity. We study the corresponding distribution of the electric field and the energy-flux density for these transmitted peaks. we found that the attenuation of the energy-flux density exhibits the linearity behavior in the silver layer. The attenuation degree is relative to the distribution of the electromagnetic field. The lower the field intensity is, the weaker the dissipation of the electromagnetic is.
