In the Late Qing Dynasty, with the failure of the First and Second Opium War, the government of Qing Dynasty gradually realizes that it falls behind. Introducing western science and technology into China has been the common understanding of the sensible patriots. In this social background, a large number of western science work is introduced into China and emerges huge influence on Chinese traditional mathematics. This thesis mainly discusses the translation and spread of the first systematical trigonometry book Sanjiaoshuli (γδΈθ§'ζ°ηγ) , the main jobs of the thesis are as follows.Firstly, the background of Sanjiaoshuli (γδΈθ§'ζ°ηγ) studies in detail. According to the analysis of the social and academic background, it is ready for discussing the introduction, content and influence of Sanjiaoshuli (γδΈθ§'ζ°ηγ) systematically.Secondly, Hua Hengfang and Fu Lanya's biographical note is collected and sort out. The translation department of Jiangnan Manufacturing Bureau also was introduced in detail.Thirdly, this thesis studies Sanjiaoshuli (γδΈθ§'ζ°ηγ) in detail, and evaluates Sanjiaoshuli (γδΈθ§'ζ°ηγ) achievements.Fourthly, this thesis compares the content of first Trigonometry introduction which was translated in late Ming dynasty with the second introduction which was translated in late Qing dynasty.Finally, this thesis will study the influence of Sanjiashuli (γδΈθ§'ζ°ηγ) through Chinese mathematician's work and mathematical education. From the two aspects, the author also evaluates the absorption of Trigonometry and gives the reasons. |
