| South Yellow Sea is a semi-enclosed shelf sea.Due to the sediment in the midwest is controlled by the material from the Yellow River and Yangtze and the water power.So the source of sediment is abundant, the type of sediment is diversity and the deposition environment is complex.To identify where the sediment source, sediment transport trends and to reveal the dynamic control of their deposition factors have important scientific significance.Based on the 908 project of grain size of the 1158 surface sediment samples were analyzed in order to probe into the relationship between the characteristics of grain size distribution and the sediment source or sedimentary dynamic conditions in the South Yellow Sea.The results indicate that the surface sediments in the study area can be divided into six types including sand,silt,clayey silt,silty clay,sandy silt and silty sand,some of the samples contain gravels and calcareous concretion.Silt mainly distribute near the water of the estuaries of the ancient Yellow River,in the southeast offing to Qingdao and in the southeast of submarine gully.Clay mainly distribute near the estuaries of the ancient Yellow River in the southern study area and in the southeast offing to Qingdao,its distribution is similar with silt.Sand is mainly distributed in the coastal waters to the area from Jiaonan to Rizhao and in the middle east study area,also in the Jiaozhou Bay estuary has a small size distribution. Gravel and calcareous concretion are mainly distributed in the Midwest study area.The results show that the composition and size distribution of sediment in the northwest are affected by the materials of the current Yellow River which are carried by Shandong coastal current,in the southwest are controlled by the materials of the ancient Yellow River.,in the middle esat are affected by the Yellow Sea warm current and in the west coastal areas are subject to coastal erosion and the supply of local rivers. |
