After the outbreak of the World War II, some advanced technologies widely used in military field, such as satellite communication,space exploration,radar and so on, have been rapidly developed, so many scientists from many countries urgently need the high power microwave millimeter wave device that work in high-frequency. After long-term research by scientists from various countries, they found that microwave electron tube using sheet electron beam can work at high-frequency and can produce high power. Compared with ring or circular electron beam, sheet electron beam has its own outstanding advantages: Firstly, it is small, and can load big current, and output high power microwave; Secondly, its space charge effect is small, so the require to magnetic field of the focusing system is low; Thirdly, microwave tubes using sheet electron beam is small,low cost and high efficient.The focus of Sheet electron beam has been the problem plaguing scientists, if the sheet electron beam is not focused, with the transmission for some distance in the microwave tube, it will be dispersed into a number of filaments, this is Diocotron instability.The main work done by this paper is as follows:1,We started with Maxwell's equations, and analyzed the Diocotron instability generated in the transportation of the sheet electron beam, and obtained the Diocotron instability theory, then used MAGIC particle simulation software to simulate the sheet electron beam, and we observed the Diocotron instability.2,The periodic permanent quadrupole magnetic field called PPQM magnetic field was used to focus the sheet electron beam, to suppress the Diocotron instability. Firstly, we analyzed the PPQM magnetic field structure, PPQM magnetic field is composed of PCM magnetic field and PQM magnetic field, after a series of derivation, obtained theoretical expressions. We derived a single electron moving in PPQM magnetic field equation, and obtained the motion trajectory by numerical simulation. At different peak magnetic field, we use MAGIC particle simulation software to simulate the focusing effect of PPQM, and finally come to that, when select the appropriate peak magnetic field, the PPQM can focus the sheet electron beam.3,The hybrid magnetic field formed by PCM and PPQM was used to focus the sheet electron beam, and MAGIC three-dimensional particle simulation software was used to simulate the focusing effect in the hybrid magnetic field, finally, we got that when select the appropriate peak magnetic field, the hybrid magnetic field formed by PCM and PPQM can focus the sheet electron beam.4,Finally, the same sheet electron beam was transfered in the focusing magnetic field, PCM, Wiggler and PPQM,respectively. We used MAGIC three-dimensional particle simulation software to compare the advantage and disadvantage among them.
