Recently, plastics industry developed fastly in the world together with steel, lumber and cement, have become the major material field. The consumption has been up to one hundred and sixty million tons overseas and six million tons domestic every year. Plastics make the pollution increased rapidly to human with its wide application. Degradable plastics have been the most efficient method of solving the problem of pollution. Therefore the research of degradable plastics has become one of the hot topics of plastics domain in the world. This paper is started in this context.Degradable plastics include photo degradable, photo/biodegradable, biodegradable and water degradable plastics. In this paper, photo degradable plastic film was researched. We put three kinds of photosensitizer into metallocene-linear low density polyethene(m-LLDPE), Then photo degradable behavior of m-LLDPE had been researched systematically. Carbonyl index of m-LLDPE film uprised with the increasement of irradiated time or photosensitizer. Obviously, the addition of photosensitizer increased photo oxidative degradation of m-LLDPE.Photo oxidative degradation of polyethylene film had been analyzed with infrared spectroscopy(IR),oxidative induced temperature(OIT*). Moreover, rheological behavior of m-LLDPE and LLDPE had been also discussed by circumrotating rheometer in this paper. The results showed that the degradable rate of m-LLDPE film was promotioned by the addition of photosensitizer. Degradable plastics produced by the addition of photosensitizer have many advantages such as operation reliable, production conveniencely and so on. It has good potential application of market.
