| Recently, ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) has emerged as a important polymerization, because the polymerization has the characteristics that it may still retain the unsaturated degree of chain of the monomer after the polymerization. Among them, ROMP of dicyclopentadiene (DCPD) gains widespread interest. Poly-dicyclopentadiene (PDCPD) is engineering plastics of double excellent performance of high impact strength and high flexural modulus, which is obtained by the ROMP of DCPD.Overseas there has been the reaction injection molding (RIM) products of PDCPD of industrialization in the late twentieth century. However, in China, the technology is not ripe. There is not good miscibility in monomer and the catalytic system, high dependence of inert environment of catalyst system, low monomer conversion rate, and so on. With Chinese rapid economic development, the demand of domestic PDCPD-RIM materials is increasing, therefore, we may improve our technology of PDCPD-RIM as soon as possible, be made by ourselves for the materials, and not be depend on the foreign technology, while the rational use of C5 fraction for synthesis of DCPD in a new type of high-performance materials, which has very important significance for Chinese economics.In this paper, PDCPD was synthesized by DCPD, we used modified WCl6-EtxAlCl3-x as the catalytic system, which is high-performance and low-cost. We used amino-silane ligand which is synthesized by ourselves in the first and phenoxy ligand as macroligand to modify the primary catalysts.Comparative study on the macroligand modification of WCl6, we know that material performance of PDCPD and the polymerization are influenced by the modified catalyst system.The experimental results showed that:(1)We used innovative macroligand to modify the primary catalysts, not only to resolve the problem of the miscibility, but not to influence the catalytic activity, and to reduce the dependence of inert atmosphere of catalytic system;(2) There is moderate activity in the catalyst system of modified tungsten, so the RIM process of PDCPD is not additional additives(for example, benzonitrile, etc.), the process of polymerization is more simple and the performance of materials is more superior in all aspects; (3) We used innovative macroligand to modify the primary catalysts, which reduced the requirements of high-purity monomer; (4)The PDCPD material which was synthesized by innovative macroligand to modify the primary catalysts had both excellent anticorrosion properties and good thermal stability, its decomposition temperature of up to 445℃; (5) It is a expansion of the scope of application materials and will have very broad application prospects. Because of the suspension and precipitation of polymers through the use of ethanol its odor is even better to greatly reduce of the concentration of residual monomer;(6) The result of FTIR and H1-NMR indicated that reaction mechanism of the ROMP of DCPD was proved. |
