Based on current desulfurization by single blow grain magnesium and KR method, a more professional desulfurization with in-situ mechanical stirring method was developed in our lab. We research and develop professional desulfurization with in-situ mechanical stirring method. In order to industrial application of this method, the fluid flow is analyzed in this paper in the molten pool by experiment and simulation.According to the experimental study, firstly, a water model was set up. Secondly, fluid flow field photographs were taken by high-speed camera. Finally, the local gas holdup is measured in stirred reactor by pressure difference method. In addition, the average gas holdup is determined by volume expansion method.As for numerical simulation, based on the commercial CFD software fluent, several models are adopted to simulate for the flowfield of water model. The comparison between experiment results and simulation results showed that it is feasible and authentic for simulation of flow field with FLUENT software. Then 300t ladle were simulated. In this paper, the impact of mixing patterns, stirring speed and immersion depth on the Single-phase flow field and gas-liquid two-phase flow field are considered. At last, prediction about gas holdup was discussed.The chief results are showed as follows:First, in two mixing patterns, gas holdup increased with rotation speed and gas flow rate, but too high speed had little influence. In the same conditions, the effect of eccentric stirring is better than centric stirring. But in the application of industry production, the inwall near impeller is easy to breathe upon refractory material because of high pressure. Ameliorated impeller is better to bubble dispersed and disintegrated under similar conditions.Second, the results showed that the flow field of ladle is coupling between axial circulation and radial rotating flow. Along with radial directions, the velocity of hot model increases at first then decreases. Maximum flow velocity appeared at the end of the blade. At the same time,with rotational speed increasing and immersion depth of stirring paddle decreasing, the depth of Vortex in the liquid surface added gradually.The Gas-phase in ladle is distributed over large areas, much more than which in water method, especially the region below impeller. Above all, the gas holdup in the whole ladle is average.
