As an important Chemical material, sulfur and sulfur products are applied to many sectors of national economy widely such as agriculture, chemical, light industry, metallurgical industry, building materials and medicine. At present, the sulfur produced in the world mainly comes from native sulfur deposit, sour gas, high-sulfur crude, pyrite and metal sulfides, and whether this sulfur resource can be used depends on their recovery cost. So as environmental legislation becomes more and more strict, the quantity of recovered sulfur in sulfur resource becomes more and more large. At present, the flotation process is the main method which is used widely in recovery of elemental sulfur from leaching residue of oxygen pressure leaching of sphalerites, but the sulfur recovered in the way is lower content and this method just has a accumulated effect. Each of other methods have some defects. It is significant to study the new method which can recover the sulfur from leaching residue of oxygen pressure leaching of sphalerites.Aiming at actuality, this paper studied solid extraction column method, leaching method, to realize expected purpose, on the basis of refer to a large number of papers about the methods of recovery sulfur and the properties of organic solvents. The method used the tetrachloroethylene as leaching solution to recover the sulfur from leaching residue of oxygen pressure leaching of sphalerites. The reason to choice tetrachloroethylene as leaching solution is that it's property is stabilitier and it's toxicity and volatile is weaker than kerosene, xylene and others organic solvent. And the tetrachloroethylene is more able to dissolve the sulfur. To recovery the sulfur from leaching residue of oxygen pressure leaching of sphalerites, the single factor experiments were done to study the conditions of leaching temperature, leaching time, leaching liquid-solid ratio, particle size of original slag, additive of organic solvent and leaching times on recovery rate of sulfur, and some problems such as repeated usage rate of the tetrachloroethylene, to determine the optimum condition of recovery sulfur using the tetrachloroethylene. The optimum test conditions are as follows:100℃-110℃leaching temperature, leaching time 8min, leaching liquid-solid ratio 8:1, granularity smaller than 45μm, no additive of organic solvent to the tetrachloroethylene, twice leaching, and at the same time, the experiments showed that under the premise to ensure the high recovery rate of sulfur, the tetrachloroethylene, as the organic solvent, can be used repeatedly. According to the XRD patterns of the residue and precipitate, there is almost no elements sulfur leaving in the residue through the process of leaching of tetrachloroethylene. And the contents of pyrite and sphalerite are improved largely and they can be recovered.
