Because carbon fiber has a lot of advangtages such as wide source, light weight, excellent mechanical, heat, electrical performance and anti environment ability etc, it has received a lot of attention in the field of electromagnetic protection. Meanwhile, due to the lightweight requirements of electronic products, carbon fiber reinforced composites have gradually replaced the metal material and widely used in the field of electromagnetic protection. It's production and application have played pivotal roles in China's national defense, even the national economy.This thesis introduces properties of carbon fiber, nickel plating carbon fiber and their reinforced function composite. It also introduces their back ground, domestic and international progresses, existent problems and application direction in the field of electromagnetism shields.In this paper, alkaline electroless nickel plating was used to treat metal on the surface of carbon fiber. Each key step has been studied in detail. Single factor method was used to study the effect of coarsening time and plating time on the Coating. Orthogonal test method was used to optimize the formulation and technologyof electroless nickel to get best parometers. Process of electroless nickel plating was studied systematically to obtain nickel coatings with certain thickness and excellent performance. Thickness, microstructure, content and crystalline of nickel plating on carbon fiber surface was tested with cold field emission scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and broadband resistance. Test results show that:the coating combined with carbon fiber body and the phosphorus content can meet the requirements. Metal deposited on carbon fiber surface with the form of nano grains to form a crystalline plating layer. Condutibity of nickel plated has improved to several times compared to carbon fibers.This paper describes preparing process of electromagnetism shielding compound material by filling the nickel plating carbon fiber in Huo rubber. All-powerful material testing machine and shield chamber law was used to test the performance of composite. Data analysis proves: The electrical conductivity, stretched performance, compressed performance and shielded capability (hit 75-80dB inside the band of frequency 10MHz-1GHz)improve a lot comparing to original Huo rubber. The preparation of electromagnetic composite by adding metal plated carbon fibers has become a main research direction in the field of electromagnetic compatibility.
