Azobenzene has attracted much attention among photo-responsive materials in terms of reversibility, speed and simplicity of incorporation. At present, polymer with azobenzene molecule makes great contribution in energy transformation especially from light energy to mechanical energy in macroscopic film bending behavior. Because the azobenzene molecules on the optical properties has unique properties, the azobenzene molecules introduced to crosslink liquid crystal elastomer, azobenzene molecules can realize light to response on a microscopic molecular shape change, this change causing macro turned over to the united system of the whole deformation. And then convert light energy into macro mechanical energy, this paper through the preparation of series crosslinking containing azobenzene liquid crystal elastomer, azobenzene group’s substituent polarity size, the length of the interval groups, azo phenyl group in the owner chain polymerization and the position of the side chain effects on liquid crystal properties of polymer. Through the flexible polishing grinding forming dense neat PE membrane micro groove orientation of liquid crystal molecules. To a very great extent increased the flexible use of polymer. The UV and sunlight as response light source of the polymer to study the response of the cross-linked polymer liquid crystal.With PE composite membrane preparation to light active actuator membrane, azobenzene crosslinking liquid crystal elastomer as active layer of light, PE as inert layers constitute a double membrane, the double membrane is used as the light drives, using Faraday’s law of electromagnetic induction light- mechanical- electrical energy transformation, and through the pulse light source and continuous light sources to research the energy conversion principle.According to the previous results, it is found that the micro groove for azobenzene class small molecular crystal growth process also has a good orientation arrangement. We will azobenzene molecules directly as the actuator of light, through the research results show that the direct use of azobenzene kind of small molecule has a certain potential molecular actuator.
