Quinazolinones are an important class of nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compounds, and they have attracted much attention for their application of molecular biology, synthesis of new materials, medicine etc. In this paper, a nano copper oxide catalyzed reaction was developed for the synthesis of quinazolinones.Thirty-two 2,3-dihydroquinazolin-4(1H)-ones were synthesized by a one-pot reaction of isatoic anhydride, aniline and its derivatives, aldehydes or ketones using nano copper oxide as catalyst in aqueous ethanol(ethanol/water=1/1, v/v) under reflux condition. This protocol showed many benefits,such as good functional group tolerance, environment friendly solvents, and simple operation.A new nano Cu O-catalyzed multi-component reaction for the synthese of quinazolin-4(3H)-ones had been developed via isatoic anhydride, ammonium chloride, aldehydes or ketones in aqueous ethanol(ethanol/water=3/1, v/v) under reflux condition. The total 14 different 2-substituted-quinazolin-4(3H)-ones were synthesized and the reaction mechanism was discussed.3-(Phenylamino)-quinazoline-4(1H)-ones and 3-methyleneaminoquinazolin-4(1H)-ones were synthesized in aqueous using nano copper oxide as catalyst, which was a new green synthetic method of construction of these compounds.A new nano Cu O-catalyzed intramolecular C-N bond formation reaction for the synthese of indazolo[3,2-b]quinazolinones was reported and a new reaction mechanism was proposed. The important features of this protocol were inculded:(1) excellent yield(2) inexpensive, air stable, efficient nano copper oxide catalyst;(3) easy to operatation.
