Study On The Effect Of Land Use/land Cover Change And Its Effect On The Ecosystem Service Function In Xi’an

Land use/land cover change (LUCC) cause changes in ecosystem types, structure and function directly, and then, various ecosystem services provided by ecosystems to humans. With the rapid development of social productive forces, the human destructing the natural ecosystem heavily, and, resulting in reduced ecosystem services. Therefore, a study on land use/land cover change impact on ecosystem service values are of great significance for us to understand the regional ecological environment changes, maintain the ecological balance, and promote the coordinated development of regional economy and the environment.In this study, use RS and GIS, analysis the land use/land cover change feature and its temporal and spatial dynamics in the whole Xi’an city and its built-up area in 2000, 2005 and 2010. And estimate the economic value of ecosystem services in Xi’an city. Based on this, try to analyze the mechanism on how land use/land cover affect the value of ecosystem services, and propose appropriate countermeasures, aimed at provide a reference for future land use management of Xi’an city.The main conclusions of this study are as follows:(1) During 2000-2010, woodland, grassland, construction land and unused land in Xi’an city showed an increasing trend, while the water and arable land showed a decreasing trend, in which, arable land reduced significantly, it mainly converted into construction land and forest; and with the expansion of the urban land, the peripheral area of built-up area encounter an increasing landscape fragmentation. (2) During 2000-2010, the total value of ecosystem services in Xi’an decreased slightly, the main ecosystem services lies in carbon fixation and oxygen release, soil conservation, and water conservation, food production value worth only a small part. (3) The main factors of land use/land cover change in Xi’an city and its built-up area include population growth, GDP driven, economic development of the suburbs, and differentiation of the population. (4) In the future should focus on rational planning of urban construction, increasing the area ofnatural ecosystems, maintaining ecological services, to improve the quality of living environment, reduce urban heat island intensity and gradually increase the ecological quality of the city. Meanwhile, coordinate the relationship of economic development and population, resources and environment, balance the relationship between land urbanization, economic urbanization, population urbanization and ecological environment, and ultimately achieve healthy and sustainable development.
