In the process of that using a diamond grinding wheel will produce abrasive grinding wheel passivated,wheel binders blockage affect the normal use of the wheel, it needs to be trimmed in order to obtain better results. Common method for trimming metal bonded grinding wheel dressing is very difficult. This study is based on the electrical processing technology, developed out of electro-contact discharge dressing (ECDD) technology, which is a new type of dressing superabrasive grinding technique. This trimming technique reduces dependence on liquid medium than conventional mechanical trimming technology, reducing environmental pollution, but also greatly expanded the range of application on trimming wheel.In this study, the research on the method of ECDD metal bonded diamond grinding wheel, design the experiment device. Set up the experimental platform. We make a preliminary study on the feasibility of the experiment by the trimming wheel machine. The experimental results show that it’s able to make the experiment about ECDD by the existing experimental equipment and process conditions. And then make a series of experiments with different processing of current, voltage, pulse width, pulse interval. Analysis of the influence of different grinding wheel morphologies with different electrical parameters on ECDD experiment in order to obtain the optimal parameter.The experimental results show that diamond grinding wheel can achieve good processing effect with ECDD under the appropriate discharge. Processing of current is the main factors that influence the result of the experiment. Processing current shoulds not be too large. When the current reaches a certain value, it will make the grinding wheel surface burn and cause the oxidation on the diamond grinding wheel. And it will lack of the abrasive grinding capacity. Voltage is about the energy in the experiment. If catenary voltage is too high, the volume of the single pulse discharge crater increases as the pulse energy strengthens. It benefits deionization and chip removal fullly within increasing the appropriate pulse interval. It increases suitably the pulse interval will benefit of the deionization and the chip removal to improve the effect on truing and dressing. There exists a appropriate parameter range with processing current, voltage, pulse width, pulse interval in the experiment of ECDD. It is able to achieve a better truing and dressing result in that range. In this study, processing current (5A), voltage (25V), pulse width (25μs), pulse interval (25μs) is the best electrical parameters in ECDD diamond grinding wheel.
