The production of renewable energy is the most important issue facing to the human being in 21 stcentury. As one of the most promising candidates, solar energy also can be used to produce hydrogen by splitting water besides being converted to the electricity. In the process of water split, the catalyzed oxidation of water is the key step. Thus, most efforts are focused on looking for new catalyst with high efficiency, low cost, and long-term stability. In this thesis, a new ligand incorporating ligh-harvesting segment was designed and synthesized, which can be further used to produce new “dye-catalyst” type functionalized molecule. In the first chapter, the reaction process of light-driven water oxidation was introduced in detail as well as the research progress of the catalyst. In the second chapter, the new ligand using triphenylamine as the dye-part was design and synthesized. In the third chapter, some tried synthetic routes were discussed and the problems within these routes were anylized. In the fourth chapter, the conclusions were listed. In the fifth chapter, some other works were introduced briefly.
