Chirality is a very common phenomenon in the nature, chiral properties has been widely used in every field of study. Therefore, the research of chiral complexes have attracted extensive attention. It is not only because they are complicated and topological interest but also owing to their promising applications in the optical, electrical, magnetic, ion recognition. Amino acid derivatives contain both carboxyl and amino groups, and exhibit excellent coordination ability. Therefore, a series of coordination polymers constructed by chiral ligends N-benzoyl-L-glutamic acid(H2bzglu O) and N-acety-L-leucine acid(Hacleu) and metal ions with copper and cobalt have been synthesized, and the crystal structures and properties of these complexes have also been studied.First, six complexes constructed from N-benzoyl-L-glutamic acid:{[Cu2(bzglu O)2(H2O) 2]·4H2O}n(1),{[Cu2(bzglu O)2(DMSO)2]·H2O}n(2),{[Cu2(bzglu O)2(DMF)2]}n(3),{[Cu(bzglu O)(bpp)(H2O)]·2H2O}n(4),{[Co(bzglu O)(bpe)(H2O)]·H2O}n(5),{[Co(bzglu O)(bpp)(H2O)]·H2O}n(6);(H2bzglu O=N-benzoyl-L-glutamicacid;bpp=1,3-bis(4-pyridyl)propane;bpe=1,2-bis(4-py ridyl)ethane; DMSO=dimethylsulfoxide,DMF= N, N-dimethylformamide). These complexes have been characterized by using single-crystal X-ray diffraction, infrared spectra, ultraviolet spectrum, elemental analysis, thermogravimetric analysis and powder X-ray diffraction analysis.Compound 1 and 2 crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group P212121, Compound 1 features a ladder-like 1D chain structure, which are further extended into a 3D supramolecular architecture through hydrogen bonding interactions. Compound 3 crystallizes in the tetragonal space group P43, Compound 2 and 3 exhibit the same 3D network, the adjacent Cu(II) cations are bridged by a- and g-carboxyl groups of two bzglu O2- dianions to form a 1D right-handed helical chain along the a、b direction, form a 1D left-handed helical chain along the c direction. Eventually form the 3D structure similar to diamond shape. The complex 4 crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group P212121, The complex 5 crystallizes in the triclinic space group P-1,The complex 6 crystallizes in the triclinic space group P1, Compound 4、5 and 6 exhibit the same 2D layers, hydrogen bonding interaction between AB layers in Compound 4、5.In addition, we studied the circular dichroism(CD) spectra of compounds 1、2、3、6,The CD spectra indicate of 1-3、6 mostly originate from the chiral ligands H2 bzglu O.Fluorescence spectrum of different ion in complexes 6, found that it can identify the Ca2+, is expected to be material for ion recognition.Second, two coordination compounds constructed by N-acety-L-leucine acid: {[Cu(acleu)2(bpp)]·2H2O}n(7),{[Cu(acleu)2(bpe)(H2O)]·H2O}n(8)(Hacleu= N-acety-L-leucine acid; bpp=1,3-bis(4-pyridyl)propane; bpe=1,2-bis(4-pyridyl)ethane) have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, infrared spectra, ultraviolet spectrum, thermal analysis, powder diffraction and X-ray diffraction analysis.Compounds 7 crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group P212121, the adjacent Cu(II) cations are bridged by acleu- and bpp to form a 2D network, which is further connected by intermolecular hydrogen bonds to generate 3D supramolecular network. It is important to note that a1 D right-handed helical water chain formed through lattice water molecules. Complex 8 crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21 and exhibits the 1D infinite chain, which is further connected by intermolecular hydrogen bonds to generate 3D supramolecular network. The solid-state photoluminescent properties indicates that complex 7 is potential fluorescent material.
