BR is one of biological materials with the photoelectric effect, photo dichroism properties and photo-induced optical anisotropy and other important optical properties and it can be used for the field of holographic storage technology. Its nature is a kind of membrane proteins, and it is one of the hottest research object in the optical information processing and light storage area. This paper’s sample is one kinds of genetic modified variant named BR-D96N polymer film, acting as experimental material with the samples. Upon its photo-induced optical anisotropy and holographic storage features we mainly engaged to study two experiments.First, on the photo-induced optical anisotropy of the material called BR-D96N polymer film, we has carried on the theoretical derivation, get BR absorption cross section in three different conditions, and then deduce the light causing dichroism coefficient and light cause birefringence coefficient of sexual expression, based on the theoretical basis, the corresponding program using Matlab simulation. The experiment studied the material of B-POA and B-M-POA when the exciting light density I650=3.00mW/cm2 in the material:the result of the material of B-POA has the maximum in its stable state:DCF∞=0.030565 ± 0.002085 and BRF∞=0.012604±0.000235; when the exciting light density I650=3.00mW/cm2 and I405=12.00mW/cm2, the material of B-M-POA has the maximum in its stable state:DCF∞=0.379659 ±0.016554、 BRF∞=0.072035±0.000134. Comparing with two experiments, we conclude that the latter DCF is 13.4657 times than the former and the latter BRF is 5.736671 times than the former. The theoretical simulation results support the experiment conclusion absolutely.The Holographic storage study of the sample material-collinear holographic data storage experiment, compared with theory to simulate the choice of reference light and experimental results, we chose the three aperture, haploid reference light intensity. And applicate the reference light intensity in the collinear holographic data storage experiment, calculate the materials stored surface density of the BR-D96N polymer film is 2.01×108 bits/cm2, which consistent with the theoretical value of 2.4×108 bits/cm2.
