In this paper, the titanium (silver)/silica mesoporous composites, which have highly efficient photo catalytic activity, were synthesized by sol-gel process. The methyl orange solution was selected as simulated industrial wastewater, the catalytic degradation performance of titanium (silver)/silica mesoporous composites were studied under visible light and ultraviolet irradiation.Nonionic surfactant P123 as template, titanium tetrachloride (TiCl3) and tetraethyl orthosilicate(TEOS) as precursor, the ordered structure of titanium/silica mesoporous composite materials were prepared under acidic conditions by sol-gel process. The reaction conditions were optimized. The structure and properties of composite materials were characterized by TG, XRD, N2 adsorption-desorption, TEM etc. The results show that mesoporous composites have regular ordered mesoporous structure. The titanium/silica mesoporous composite was used to degrade methyl orange solution under ultraviolet light. The results show that when the molar ratio of Ti/Si was 1:2, The photo catalytic activity of titanium/silica mesoporous composite reached maximum. The degradation rate of methyl orange can reached 99.7% for 4 hour under ultraviolet light radiationThe silver/silica mesoporous composites were prepared under acidic condition by sol-gel method with cationic surfactant stearyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (STAB) as template and silver nitrate (AgNO3) and TEOS as precursor.
