This paper studied structure and properties of WC coating and T400 coating by HVOF technical preparation. The microstructure of the coating and the morphology of the surface and the constitution of the phase were characterized by scanning electron microscope and X-ray diffraction. The hardness, wear properties, bending peeling performance of two kinds of coating was tested by micro-hardness tester, rubber wheel abrasion testing machine and hydraulic universal testing machine.The failure forms of coatings were discussed under abrasive wear environment.The research results show that: the hardness of two kinds of wear resistant coating(WC10Co4Cr and T400) is different due to thermal spraying distance, the hardness of the coatings increased with the increase of spraying distance. T400 coating are basically the same in two kinds of abrasive wear and 13 N and 5N wear condition. While the wear resistance of WC10Co4 Cr is five times higher than T400. This is because T400 coating is mainly component of Co, Mo, Cr, and Co content is great than 60%, while the hard phase WC content in WC10Co4 Cr up to 86%. WC10Co4 Cr and T400 coating is dense, the porosity is less than 1%, oxide content in coating are less than 】%.Abrasive wear test and bending test results show that: T400 coating wear failure is mainly to form parallel to the sliding direction of the main abrasive furrows, while WC10Co4 Cr coating not seen obvious furrow, the wear failure forms are mainly composed of small particles to take off. WC10Co4 Cr and T400 coatings showed no coating peeling phenomenon in 90 degree bend test, but there are obvious cracks on the coating surface. Based on the microstructure and properties of two kinds of coating, in the comprehensive performance, the WC10Co4 Cr coating is better than the T400 coating.
