For the arsenic fluoride compound pollution in water body at present. Moreover the existing research shows that there is a good correlation between arsenic and fluoride-contents. On the basis of these, consider to develop a new technologies for the simultaneously removal of the coexisting arsenic and fluoride in the water. Because of the characteristics of the efficient and economic,also it is easy to operate, the adsorption process appears to be he research focus in the people in recent years.And the study showed that the adsorption process have a good performance in arsenic or fluoride removal from the water.But, most studies focuse on developping new materials, research on synchronous removal of arsenic fluoride is still lack.Manganese aluminum composite metal oxide are prepared to simultaneous adsorption of arsenic and fluoride based on the conclusions based on previous study. Analyze the efficiency of the adsorption of arsenic and fluoride,and the influence of different pH on the adsorption effecy。And on this basis,the adsorption mechanism are preliminary discussed by compare the FT-IR spectrum of adsorbent which are original and after adsorption.The results of the study showed that:(1)The manganese aluminum composite metal oxide are more effective in the simultaneous adsorption of arsenic and fluoride compared with alumina metal oxide, especially for As(Ⅲ), compared to alumina metal oxide,the manganese aluminum composite metal oxide are more effective in arsenic and fluorine removal in a wide pH range.(2)When the pH values are neutrality,the freundlich multilayer adsorption capacity for As(Ⅲ) 、As(Ⅴ) and fluoride are 0.833mmol/g、0.839 mmol/g and 5.032 mmol/g;The adsorbtion of arsenic and fluoride by the manganese aluminum composite metal oxide can achieve adsorption equilibrium within 12 hours.By the increasing of the manganese content in the adsorbent, the adsorpt capacity to the As(Ⅲ) is imporved,the removal rate is accelerated. The increasing of the alumium content in the adsorbent can promote the adsorption of the As(Ⅴ) and F, increase the adsorption rate of As(Ⅴ) and F.Applications can choose the suitable of alumium manganese depending on the water quality.(3)The adsorpt effect of As(Ⅲ) are better in acidic and alkcline conditions,the adsorpt to As(Ⅴ) affected by the pH is not obvious, to the F is better in acidic than in alkcline conditions.The pH can be adjust accord to the remove objects in the actual.(4)Arsenate and fluoride combine the same hydroxyl binding sites of adsorbent, which caused in the competitive adsorption of arsenate and fluoride.The fluoride adsorption can make significant decline to the adsorption capacity of arsenic,but the arsenic has no obvious effect on fluoride.The As(Ⅲ) is oxide to be As(Ⅴ) and then adsorpt on the surface of the adsorbent, the fluoride is just adsorpt by the adsorbent singly, no valence changed.(5)Summarily, the adsorption efficiency of the manganese aluminum composite metal oxide for simultaneous removal of arsenic and fluoride are much better than the pure aluminum metal oxide. Especially for As(Ⅲ), is a new breakthrough.Adsorption to simultaneous removal of arsenic and fluoride is easy to operate,while aluminum and manganese are wide existence in nature, low cost and easy access,so this adsorbent has a broad prospects in simultaneous removal of arsenic and fluoride.
