In this paper, the arc milling brazing was first put forward to 5052 aluminum alloy and Q235 low carbon steel, and the Zn-Al15 alloy wire was chosen as the filler metal. The theory was that the alloy wire was melted by TIG arc to fill the welding line, then the function of stir and milling of milling cutter was used to wipe off the oxidation film on the surface of steel, so that the chemical reaction between filler metal and steel to achieve metallurgical bonding. Filler metal and steel was welded to form the brazing joint and filler metal and aluminum alloy was welded to form the fusion joint.The macroscopic characteristic and microscopic characteristic of aluminum alloy/steel welding joint was changed by this welding method, especially the interface of steel of the weakness zone in the whole joint presented wave shape, the thickness of intermetallic compound layer(IMC layer) which was formed by the reaction between filler metal and steel was different and the distribution was not continuous.In the research of arc milling brazing of aluminum alloy and steel, the welding parameters which whether milling cutter rotated and milled the surface of steel or not, direction of rotation of milling cutter, welding electric current, thickness of steel was milled by milling cutter, speed of rotation of milling cutter and angle of the surface of steel were studied and influence rule on the macroscopic characteristic, microscopic characteristic and mechanical property of aluminum alloy and steel welding joint. Finally the best welding technology parameters which respectively were welding speed 44mm/min, the speed of wire feeding 720mm/min, welding electric current 70 A, contra rotate direction of milling cutter, 0.1mm thickness of steel was milled by milling cutter, speed of rotation of milling cutter 2720r/min and angle of the surface of steel 30° were achieved on the existing welding condition.The welding mechanism was studied and physical model was established on the basis of the welding technology of the arc milling brazing of aluminum alloy and steel. The welding process of the alloy/steel joint divided four stages. First, the alloy wire was melted by TIG arc to fill the welding line. Second, the welding-brazing of the simultaneous working of arc and stirring of milling cutter. Third, the surface of steel was milled by milling cutter. In the end, the last chemical reaction between filler metal and steel after the surface of steel was milled by milling cutter.
