The design and synthesis of functional coordination polymers has been the target of modern chemistry. Especially, the metal clusters which have novel structures, excellent performances and unique way of bonding, and the metal organic frameworks with large surface areas and colorful topology. They have been widely used in optical, catalytic, magnetic, and material fields, and has attracted more attention of chemists. In this paper, nine complexes were synthesized by using the solvothermal method. Their coordination modes and structures have been discussed. The main contents are summarized as follows:1. Four transition metal clusters(1, 2, 3, 4) and one 3d-4f heteronuclear metal cluster(5)based on 8-hydroxyquinoline and its derivative 5-cl-8-hydroxyquinoline were synthesized.Complexes 1-4 are anti-centrosymmetric and the metal cores are in the six-coordinated environment. The metal core of 5 contains one Dy III ion and three Co II ions, Dy III ion is coordinated by eight atoms, two Co II ion are in six-coordinated environment and the remaining Co II ion adopts five coordination modes.2. With pyrazine-2-carboxylato acid as ligand, one 2D layer complex(6) and three 3D network complexes(7, 8, 9) were synthesized. The stability of complex 7 is higher than 6.The magnetic property of 7 is ferromagnetism. Complex 8 has a stable host-guest framework, the solvent methanol molecules in complex 8 could be replaced by water to form complex 9.
