Gold element is one of the earliest elements found fascinating. Because of its attractive yellow metal color and stable chemical properties, Gold is widely used as currency and treated as wealth. Despite the nanomaterials science’s born in 1990, the properties of Gold nanoparticles in the optical, thermal, magnetic, electrical, mechanical, and chemical have shown much different from the large size gold in catalysis, biological, sensing and medicine. These special properties attracted the attention of scientists which show great potential in catalysis, bio-sensing and medicine. Thanks to Brust’s invention of the method for the two-phase synthesis of gold nanoparticles, controlled synthesis ofgold clusters developed rapidly. Many atoms precise Gold Clusters were successively synthesized and their atomic structures were gradually analyzed by a series of advanced analytical tools. Due to Se is the same main group element of S, Synthesis and properties of Se ligand-protected gold clusters gradually attract more and more attention. Three diselane ligands for ligand-protected gold clusters were designed and synthesized based on the work of predecessors as well as Au24 nanoclusters protected by 1,2-bis(4-(tert-butyl)phenyl)diselane was synthesized. The main work of this paper is as follows:1. Three diselane ligands as 1,2-diphenyldiselane,1,2-dibenzyldiselane and 1,2-bis(4-(tert-butyl)phenyl)diselane which could be uesd for the synthesis of theSe ligand-protected gold clusters were synthesized by oxidation. We proved that the products were the target diselane ligand products by ESI、MALDI-TOF MS,1H/13H NMR, furthermore,we got the crystal of 1,2-bis(4-(tert-butyl)phenyl)diselane and its crystal data.2. Gold nanoclusters were synthesized by using one-pot fashion in THF without any surfactant addition. Methylene chloride was used to dissolve the crude product. The product was characterized using UV-vis spectrum, TG analysis, and TEM. All spectra confirmed that the products were selenoate-protected gold nanoclusters. The nanoclusters was much more stable and can be kept for a long time.
